About Dedicated to Dogs
Alongside this, I also worked at a local rescue kennels taking dogs in from the general public as well as the local pound. This gave me experience working hands-on with a huge variety of dogs of many different breeds with a wide array of problems. This fed my love for understanding canine behaviour and my thirst to expand my knowledge.
Since finishing my degree I have continued to study. I am a full member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers; for me to achieve this I had to sit a two day assessment, testing my knowledge and training methods. I have to follow the IMDT’s code of conduct and only use fair, ethical and scientifically-based methods. I am trained in both canine and feline nutrition and registered as a Specially Qualified Person with AMTRA, which means I can dispense certain medicines for companion animals. I am also a qualified canine first-aider and recently achieved a First Class accreditation with The Agility Club.
I regularly attend canine seminars covering topics such as canine law, aggression, separation anxiety and many more. Certificates from seminars and workshops I have attended can be found on my Facebook page. I am also currently working towards becoming a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor and have recently received a qualification in Principles of Dog Training and Behaviour from OCN. If you are looking for someone with the most up to date scientific knowledge with years of hands on experience then look no further.
In 2015 I set up Dedicated to Dogs to provide a variety of training and behaviour services to Ilkley and the surrounding area. These services included puppy and adult dog training classes, one-to-one training, behavioural consultations, training walks, recall workshops and reactive dog workshops. I use only the most up to date, ethical methods. Helping you understand your dog and build a solid relationship based on trust.
My Border Collie Hope is my pride and joy. I have owned her since she was 8 weeks old and she is the best teacher I could have asked for. She is a very intelligent dog, always keeping me on my toes and making me think of new ideas. She is my best friend, always by my side and I think myself incredibly lucky to have such an amazing dog in my life. We completed the Kennel Club Good Citizenship scheme in 2015 and we continue to train more complex behaviours. We regularly attend workshops including Scentwork, TTouch, Hydrotherapy and Treibball along with other activities.
